About the event

Purpose:
The reality of today’s world is complex and challenging. This two-day course provides information, skills and strategies to support leading for impact whilst also supporting a culture of wellness.

About the course:
This is designed to support all school leaders (Principals and Executive) and includes:
  • Leading schools in the VUCA world
  • Leadership of self: basic understanding of human behaviour and motivation
  • The links between brain function, wellness and learning
  • Trauma informed leadership
  • Developing a model of leadership that promotes a culture of improvement and wellness
  • Embedding planning for motivation and wellness into the School Improvement Plan process
  • Tools for developing whole school agreed culture

About the trainers

Jodie Paterson

Jodie has over 20 years of leadership experience, including working with the NSW Department of Education in the position of The Principal, School Leadership, supporting the initiatives of Primary and Secondary Principals.She has been a principal in two Primary schools on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

In 2023, she launched her own company JPAdaptive with a vision to support holistic leadership learning that contributes to personal growth, development of positive relationships and whole school improvement. Learn, Adapt, Lead. She delivers professional learning, strategic planning support and coaching that aims to integrate and embed leadership practices that support organisational wellness and high levels of social support.

Jodie completed the Art of Leadership in the first intake of school leaders in 2013 and now, as a Board and faculty member of William Glasser Australia, is an endorsed instructor of Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management.

Jodie is a co-Director of the Salutogenic Schools Alliance.
Sarah Rudling

Sarah has over 15 years of leadership experience, including Assistant Principal, Highly Accomplished Teacher and Principal positions in a range of schools in NSW. She has advocated for vulnerable students through her work with the NSW Teachers Federation; Gonski Funding Campaign; Inquiry into Education of students with a disability or special needs in New South Wales (2017) and as a foster carer for the past 9 years.

In 2019, Sarah launched her own company – 3C Consultancy to “be the change” she wanted to see in leading and delivering holistic trauma informed professional learning to educators in NSW. Sarah presents professional learning that reflects the need for a neuroeducational approach to effective schooling for the 21st century.

As a Board and faculty member of William Glasser Australia, Sarah has also been teaching Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management – training over 1000 educators in NSW in learning about what motivates human behaviour and the ways to get the best from self and others.

She is the founder and co-Director of the Salutogenic Schools Alliance.
